TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Internship II, Kisthardt Elementary School, Hamilton, NJ, Spring 2024

  • Taught lessons in language arts, math, social studies, and science to a 1st grade inclusion class of 16 students with 4 English Language Learners and 4 students with 504s

  • Developed engaging and interactive lesson plans for class, incorporating social emotional learning into lessons

    • During a Helen Keller lesson, students learned how to sign their emotions using ASL and demonstrated how to use those hand signs when students feel like they can’t use their words

  • Aligned lesson plans with New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards

    • While teaching about the solar eclipse as it happened, the lesson connected to ESS1.A: The Universe and Its Stars, with experiential learning to allow students to observe natural phenomena

  • Incorporated technology into lessons and differentiated instruction for the diverse learners in the classroom

    • To provide a multimodal approach to a lesson on representing data, students used the Smart Board to sort images of cats in Google Slides with open-ended questions that allowed for inclusive participation

Internship I, McKnight Elementary School, Trenton, NJ, Fall 2023

  • Taught lessons in math, social studies, and science to a 2nd grade inclusion class of 18 students with 4 English Language Learners and 2 students with 504s

  • Continually worked individually with a student with a learning disability

    • In one instance, after the student explained why he was fighting with other students and getting in trouble during recess, we used his love of art to make pretend gift cards for each student, both incorporating literacy and utilizing social emotional learning in the lesson

  • Guided kids activities at Art Making Day, an annual family community event dedicated to expanding arts access

  • Instructed classes for Youth Art League, a weekly art class for children 6-12 years old and teens 13-17 years old

  • Provided STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics) art classes based around technology for the Boys & Girls Club 21st Century Program for students 6-14 years old at Rivera Community Middle School, P.J. Hill Elementary School, Village Charter School, and the Boys & Girls Club Centre Street location

  • Created and taught lesson plans for CYO Summer Camp for children 10-13 years old

  • Coordinated purchasing necessary supplies for specific projects

Instructor, Arts Council Of Princeton, Princeton, NJ, July 2019 to August 2019

  • Created and taught lesson plans for a STEAM camp for children 10-12 years old

    • Introduced circuits by creating illuminated greeting cards using copper tape, coin cell batteries, and LEDs

  • Provided summer camp art classes for children 7-9 years old and 5-6 years old

    • Worked on character design and clay technique with animal pinch pots

    • Read a book to start each class with literacy to inspire the children’s creativity while increasing their interest in reading
